The Department of Economics has the longest history ever since the Lingnan University was established in 1888.
The Department is currently offering undergraduate programs in economics, graduate programs in political economics, modern economics, quantitative economics, regional economics, population, resource and environmental economics, and Ph.D. programs in world economy and modern economics.
The Department now has 32 faculty members, including 12 are professors, 11 associate professors and 9 lecturers. Among them, 15 faculty members hold the doctoral degree, 6 are doctorial supervisors, 70% of the faculty has international study or research backgrounds. The areas of research include development economics, theories of enterprises and institutional economics, regional economics, and population, resource and environmental economics.
