The Orientation Ceremony of the New Master’s Program in International Management in the US

On 28th August, the Master’s Program in International Management jointly run by Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-sen University (China), McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia (USA) and ESADE Business School (Spain) held its orientation ceremony at the University of Virginia. An invigorating and challenging journey awaits the students enrolled in this program.

 

 

Distinguished guests attending the ceremony included Prof. Carl Zeithaml, Dean of McIntire School of Commerce; Prof. Trey Maxham, Associate Dean of McIntire School of Commerce; Prof. Lynn Hamilton, Academic Director of McIntire School of Commerce; Mr. Danny Steeper, Director of Student Administration of McIntire School of Commerce; Ms. Denise Egan, Director of Career Development Center of McIntire School of Commerce; Dr. Zhang Yanmei, Associate Dean of Lingnan (University) College; Ms. Martina Setffens, Director of Graduate Program of ESADE Business School; and Ms. Carmen González León, Director of Career Development Center of ESADE Business School. 60 international business students from 15 different countries such as the US, China, France, Germany and Spain joined their hands together for a ceremony held in the Rotunda, an iconic building on the University of Virginia’s campus.

 

 

At the ceremony, Carl Zeithaml, Dean of the McIntire School of Commerce, delivered a welcome speech to the 60 students, calling this program an unprecedented innovation in global higher education and expressing his high expectations for the students. He hoped that during this year, students from different countries and backgrounds could foster mutual respect, exchange their cultural backgrounds, appreciate the diversity among them, and gain insight into different business environments.

 

 

The international makeup of this year’s student body is remarkable. Among 60 students, there are students coming from the US, China, Italy, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, and more.

 

 

After the ceremony, the students started an intensive semester in University of Virginia (USA), which will be followed by 2-months of study in Lingnan (University) College of Sun Yat-sen University (China) starting in January 2018. The students will then be heading to ESADE Business School (Spain) in March 2018 to finish their coursework. This year will undoubtedly be a precious experience to all the students enrolled in this program.
