Lingnan Partners with ESADE Business School and McIntire School of Commerce to Train Future Global Executives
Lingnan (University) College has partnered with the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia (USA) and ESADE Business School (Spain) to offer a new Master of Science (MSc) in Global Management. This new programme is designed for recent university graduates, with the aim of training future executives in the implementation of global strategies and in the management of diverse, multicultural teams. The programme will explore the complexities of global business environments from North American, European, and Asian perspectives.
The new programme is composed of four months at the University of Virginia, the only US university designated as a World Heritage Site and widely recognized for innovation in global business education; two months in Guangzhou at one of China’s top universities, and four months at ESADE’s Barcelona campus. Beginning in September 2016, the programme will allow students to experience not only cultural immersion on three different continents over the course of 10 months, but also living and interacting with students from different cultures and professional fields. Students completing the program will receive a M.S. in Global Commerce from the University of Virginia, a certificate in Global Management from Lingnan (University) College, and an M.S. in Global Strategic Business from ESADE.
Prof. Xu Xinzhong, Dean of Lingnan (University) College at Sun Yat-sen University, commented: “This program will provide students with unparalleled in-depth exposure to unique cultures and different business environments in Asia, Europe and the USA. These exposures will not only enable the students to have fast-track careers but also will have great impact on their lives as individuals.”
"The programme will provide a high-added-value experience that will prepare recent graduates – mainly from the Americas, Europe and Asia – to achieve excellence in the complex and dynamic global economy,” commented Josep Franch, Dean of ESADE Business School. “All three schools consider this programme to be an integrative proposal in terms of both the curriculum and the various components of the academic and vital experience.”
McIntire Dean Carl Zeithaml echoed Franch’s statements. “The new program allows students to study on three continents and receive two master’s degrees and a certificate from three world class business schools in one integrated experience. It marks a critical step forward in providing a new generation of business leaders with the skills and experiences they need to meet the challenges of today’s demanding global business environment,” Zeithaml said. “We look forward to working in close collaboration with our outstanding partners at ESADE and Lingnan to ensure that the new program offers a truly world-class educational experience.”
Today’s business world requires leaders with extensive international experience who are capable of implementing global strategies, who possess cultural knowledge, and who have the abilities and tools that enable them to work in multicultural settings. This new master’s programme, developed by three internationally renowned universities, will allow participants to acquire a more global profile, as well as the ability to manage large companies. It will also provide a high-added-value experience for recent university graduates, most of whom are expected to come from the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Top-tier faculty from each of the three schools will prepare students to address internal management challenges at organisations that are growing ever larger and more diverse. The programme will teach tomorrow’s executives to take advantage of the available competitive benefits, striking a balance between local adaptation and global integration.
